Entrance Scholarship (for all applicants; except MSc IATOM)

Applicants may apply for an Entrance Scholarship offered by HKUST. The scholarship is to attract and financially support academically and professionally outstanding students to join the program. Students with outstanding performances and recommendations in the following area may consider to apply for the scholarship:

  • Academic qualification
  • Professional qualification
  • Work experiences
  • Extra-curricular Activities / Community Services / Other Achievements
  • References

Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme (for MSc BDT & MSc EVEM local students)

Local applicants admitted in MSc in Big Data Technology Programme (BDT) or MSc in Environmental Engineering and Management Programme (EVEM) may apply for the Scheme awarded by HKSAR Government.  Please submit the application package: (1) the application form and (2) a curriculum vitae containing the following particulars:

  • Personal statement on how the student can contribute to the priority area of Hong Kong after completing the MSc programme concerned
  • Academic achievement (including academic awards) (please attach copy of transcript); and
  • Professional qualifications, if applicable;
  • Achievements in other areas, if applicable;
  • Work experiences, including professional achievements (please attach work experience proof, if applicable).

Applicants please complete the online form and upload the complete application package online on or before 30 April 2020.

Hong Kong Aviation Scholarship Scheme (for MSc AE and MSc IATOM only)

Applicants may apply for the Scheme awarded by HKSAR Government under the Maritime and Aviation Training Fund. Please submit (1) the Application Form, (2) Deed of Undertaking and (3) your CV to sengmsc@ust.hk by 31 August, 2020.

Professional Training and Examination Refund Scheme (ProTERS) of the Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF) (for part-time MSc AE only)

Part-time students taking AESF courses after June 2019 may apply for the Scheme.  Each successful applicant will be refunded 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum of HK$18,000 (whichever is less) for the pre-approved course/examination. Only the fees for enrolling in the pre-approved course(s) or taking pre-approved examination(s) can be refunded. Any other charges, such as registration fees, administration fees, late charges and change of course fee charges are not eligible for refund. 

MATF Courses/Examinations Code: AC191

Eligibility:

(a) the applicant must be : 

(i) a resident of the HKSAR and lawfully employable in Hong Kong; and 
(ii) in full-time employment in the maritime or aviation sector with an organization/company in Hong Kong during the time when taking the pre-approved course/examination and at the time of application;  

(b) the applicant has enrolled in or taken one of the pre-approved courses or examinations on or after 11 January 2014 (after June 2019 for HKUST MSc-AE part-time students), and has completed the course to the satisfaction of the course provider or passed the examination; and 

(c) the applicant has not been granted any other forms of government subsidy or financial assistance for the relevant pre-approved course/examination.

Hong Kong Talent Development Scholarship (for HKSAR permanent citizens; except MSc IATOM)

Applicants who are permanent citizens of Hong Kong and have achieved one of the following academic results in undergraduate studies when applied, will be considered for the Hong Kong Talent Development Scholarship:

  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Average of 3.150 (equivalent to B+); or
  • A grade average of 80% or above; or
  • First class honors

Applicants who are eligible for this scholarship will be considered automatically, please upload the relevant documents (e.g., identity document) via online application system during application period for verification. If approve, the scholarship will be awarded in the form of tuition fee reduction.

Arthur and Louise May Scholarship for Young Engineers

Young engineering professionals are welcome to apply for the Scholarship via the online applciation form.

Bolashak International Scholarship (for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan)

Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who meet the requirements stipulated at the web page of the Center for International Programs of The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan may apply for Bolashak International Scholarship.

Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (for citizens of Mexico)

Citizens of Mexico may apply for financial support from CONACYT. Details please refer to CONACYT website.

CSN Centrala studiestodsnamnden (for citizens of Sweden)

Citizens of Sweden may apply for financial support from CSN. Details please refer to CSN wesbite.

Fundação Estudar Scholarship and Instituto Ling Scholarship (for citizens of Brazil)

Citizens of Brazil may apply for scholarships offered by Fundação Estudar or Instituto Ling.

Lanekassen (for citizens of Norway)

Citizens of Norwegian may apply for financial support from Lanekassen. Details please refer to Lanekassen website.

LPDP Scholarship (for Indonesian applicants)

Indonesian students may apply to the LPDP scholarship, which supports Indonesian students to pursue master and doctoral degrees in Indonesia and abroad. Please refer to LPDP website (in Indonesian only) for application details.

Pakistan National Scholarship (for Pakistani / AJK nationals)

Pakistani / AJK nationals may apply for scholarships offered by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Details please refer to HEC webpage and HEC scholarships webpage.

Presidential Program "Global Education" (for citizens of Russia)

Citizens of Russia may apply for scholarships at Agency for Strategic Initiatives offered by the Russian Federation.

Financial Assistance

Government's Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)

Successful applicants who have the right of abode in Hong Kong or have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of their year of study may apply for the Government's Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) from the Government Student Finance Office. The scheme offers loan up to the full program fee. Loans awarded are not means-tested. Continuing Education Fund (CEF) (if applicable)

Some programs have been included in the list of reimbursable courses for the Continuing Education Fund (CEF). Eligible applicants who are Hong Kong citizens and are eligible for CEF may be reimbursed with a maximum sum of HK$20,000 upon successful completion of the entire program with an overall attendance rate over 70%.
