Environmental Engineering and Management
The program is meant to meet the needs of practicing engineers who may be engaged in the design, commissioning and management of environmental facilities and infrastructure systems. The program is designed for those who wish to strengthen their environmental engineering knowledge and management skills, as well as to prepare themselves for advanced engineering practices with management responsibilities. The programs also enable students to take several electives from other related programs.

Students are required to choose 30 credits from foundation and elective courses including an optional independent project. For details about program curriculum, please refer to Postgraduate Program Catalog.

Taught Postgraduate Fellowship Scheme (for EVEM local applicants), HK Talent Development Scholarship (for local applicants) and Entrance Scholarship are available.

Total of 15 local students shall be awarded Taught Postgraduate Fellowship Scheme with a maximum amount of HK$104,900 for each full-time student and HK$77,900 for each part-time student. Program Details 

Admission and English Proficiency Requirements

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Civil/ Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field with second-class honors or higher, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or tertiary institution. For English Proficiency Requirements, please refer to HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School.

Program Fee

The nominal program fee for MSc in Environmental Engineering and Management for full-time study is HK$147,000 (paid in 2 installments) and part-time study is HK$120,000 (paid in 4 installments) respectively. 

The nominal program fee for Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Engineering and Management for full-time is HK$73,500 (paid in 1 installment) and part-time study is HK$73,500 (paid in 2 installments) respectively.


MSc students are required to take a minimum of 30 credits of courses, including 18 credits of foundation courses, and at least 3 management related courses, while PGD students are required to complete a minimum of 15 credits, with at least 9 credits of foundation courses and at least 2 management related courses. Continuing Education Fund (CEF) 

This course in the program has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. The programs (MSc/PGD in Environmental Engineering and Management) of this module are recognized under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level [6]). After 1 April 2019, successful applicants who are HK citizens and are eligible for CEF may be reimbursed with a maximum sum of HK$20,000 upon successful completion of the entire program with an overall attendance rate over 70%. For details and updates of eligibility, application, and reimbursement procedures (in particular the reimbursement period from the date of application), please check the CEF Office  or 3142-2277 (24-hour enquiry hotline). 
Attention: Effective from 1 April 2019, there will be a series of enhancement measures related to CEF applied to all new, currently valid and closed accounts.
